Update on Cole...

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all doing well!  I am sorry to say that I don't have any pictures to upload this week, but thought I'd give you all an update on our newest family member!  We had quite a busy weekend and luckily Connor was staying at his Papaw and Memaw's house and avoided getting lost in the confusion of it all!  I had some pretty strong and continuous contractions on Friday night, 8/26, and finally ended up going into the hospital at 10:30 PM, after a call to the doctor.  It turned out that I was contracting every two minutes and had cervical changes.  I was dilated to 2 cm and 30% effaced.  They finally stopped the preterm contractions with a shot of Terbutaline (NOT fun) and we were discharged at 3 AM.  The next day I had contractions all day and the doctor on call called me in a prescription for Procardia around 5:00 PM.  I took the first dose around 5:30 and at 7:00 called her because I'd had 8 contractions in an hour (not supposed to have more than 4, at most).  She told me to take another pill and after taking that at 8:30, I had 9 contractions the next hour and called her around 10 PM.  She told me to come in and although I was super bummed, she said that if there were no further cervical changes, she would allow me to stay home from now on unless the contractions got more intense or my water broke.  So I went to the hospital and only had to stay for about an hour and a half because they determined I was still 2 cm and 30% effaced.  They let me leave with the medication and orders to stay on bed rest for the next week.

I saw my doctor this morning for a 9:30 sonogram and got some great news.  Turns out that the Gestational Diabetes diet that I am on is really working now!  I have only gained 1 lb in 3 weeks and Cole is only measuring in the 85th% now instead of "over 100% and off the charts, as he was the last sonogram!  They estimated his weight to be at 7 lbs now and my amniotic fluid is only measuring at 17.9 cm instead of 21 cm (when it should be more like 13 cm).  So good news all around!  Cole, of course, could not be bothered by the sonogram since he was literally bee-bopping ALL NIGHT last night, and obviously exhausted today because he slept through the whole thing :)  Dr. Samuel checked me and I'm still at 2 cm dilated, but am now at 50% effaced. He said that their big concern with the preterm labor contractions is that they will aggravate my previous c section scar on my uterus and I'm at an increased risk of rupture.  He said that if labor began on it's own, they would NOT try to stop it since I have reached 36 weeks, as of today.  He said that Cole would be fine and he was not worried about his lungs any longer.  He said that he does not expect that I will make it to my scheduled c section date of 9/20, but that we can hope!

Have a great week and stay tuned!

Just a Few From This Week!

Hello Everyone!  Just a couple of pictures from this week!  We are just biding our time until little Cole arrives!  Although it was 59 outside this morning, it's been quite hot and Connor and I have mostly been staying inside.  I had forgotten how much "fun" the last 4 weeks of pregnancy can be with the "no energy at ALL" thing!  Excited to see Cole again at a sonogram on Monday, 8/29!  He is still a big mover and shaker and doing well!

On Saturday, 8/20, we had our dear friends, Mike and Sarah and Mason over for a cookout!  Here is their little boy (just turned 1), Mason!

And Connor, showing Mason how to do headstands!

For some reason, this looks like a glimpse into the future in our house...and I LOVE it!

Connor, excited to play with Mason!

Another glimpse into our future?!

Sarah was kind enough to read to the little guys!

And finally, here I am at 34 weeks pregnant!  SOOOOO ready to pop this baby out!  I'll be 36 weeks next Monday (8/29)!!

Hope you are all well!!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Connor!

And what a happy birthday it was for Connor!  A HUGE thank you to everyone who went out of their way to make Connor's birthday weekend such a wonderful celebration of his life!  Before I explain the pictures, let me give you all an update on our little Cole.  Jason and I got to see him (in an ultrasound) on Friday, 8/12, and it was FABULOUS!  He was so happy in there - bee-bopin' around, kicking, licking the amniotic fluid (kinda gross, but darling at the same time!)...and of course, trying his best to hide his gorgeous face :)  Cole is officially bigger than Connor was at this point in the pregnancy (33 1/2 weeks) as he is measuring between 6.5 and 7.5 lbs.  He is also considered "off the charts" as he falls beyond the 100% mark!  SHEW!  Thank you, diabetes...once again...However, he is very healthy and doing very well.  The most exciting news for his daddy and I was that he had so much hair that it actually showed up on the CURLS!  Once again, I'll say it, IT BETTER BE RED!!! :)  We have set our c section date with Dr. Samuels and the hospital as Tuesday, September 20, 2011...unless little Cole decides to come sooner (please, please, please...)!

Ok - onto the pictures!  This is our big boy on his birthday, August 12th!

We decided to take him out for a special Dunkin Donuts sprinkles donut for breakfast!

After the donut, we took him to Toys R Us so that he could pick out some toys with the generous gift that his Aunt Sally and her family sent him!  Later, after his nap, Jo-Jo and Grandaddy, and Harper and Adriel came over to sing happy birthday to Connor and enjoy some cup cakes!  Here is Adriel with Connor and Harper!

It was a fantastic weekend!  Our little birthday boy is POOP, though!  Birthdays take a LOT of a kid!  Glad it's over...and let me just say...NO MORE EVENTS TO BE PLANNED BEFORE COLE GETS HERE!  WOO HOO!  34 weeks tomorrow!  Just 5 more...unless (once again) Cole decides to be kind to his mommy and come early :)
