Connor’s Birthday Celebration(s)!

I hope you are all doing well!  We have had a busy couple of weeks….let’s get right to the pictures!

This was at Cole’s 9 month old (even though he was already 10 months) appointment.  He is now on the charts at only in the 83% for weight (24.1 lbs.)!  WOO HOO!

On 8/4 we had an incident at our house.  We were trying to dry out the basement, which had flooded for the second time in a month, and lit a fire in the wood-burning stove down there and it didn’t work out so well.  All was fine, but we sure were grateful to have these guys come to our rescue Smile

On 8/5, it was Promotion Sunday at church and Connor moved into the big 3 year old class in Sunday School!  He was so excited!

Later that evening, Adriel, Aaron and I ran the Christopher Todd Richardson Memorial 10K on the VA Creeper Trail in Abingdon.  It was so much fun!  I trained hard and finished the race in 56 minutes 35 seconds.  My last 10 K was an hour and one minute so this was a huge improvement!  This was 6.2 miles, for those of you who were wondering Winking smile  Our big 16 mile race is coming up in less than 2 weeks!  Oh and I placed 3rd in my age group and got an AWESOME mug that was made locally Smile

We are addicted to hiking…alas…we hiked some more…

“We’re on top of the world!”

Blog 9

The views of the “Grand Canyon of the South” were breathtaking!

Blog 11

Oh, and when we weren’t hiking…we stayed in a lovely cottage on the edge of the forest.  Deer were at our back door every morning and evening!

On 8/14, Connor and Cole had a delicious breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes at the lodge!  They loved that!

These pancakes required the removal of the shirt even!

Of course, Mom is so worried about packing everyone else’s stuff that she forgot her own bathing suit.  I asked if there was anywhere nearby that I could buy one and they told me to check out the Dollar General in Haysi (about half an hour away)….so, as you can see…I compromised Winking smile

And…his very favorite part of the whole trip…throwing rocks in the lake!

Lucky for us, it was raining the next morning, when we had to leave.  It made it not so hard to leave.  We had such a great time and can’t wait to go back.  We’re planning a trip there for Labor Day!

And…on 8/18, we headed over to Papaw’s house and had ANOTHER birthday celebration!  WOW!
