Hotlanta…and boy is it HOT!

Hello friends!  I hope you are all doing well!  We have been having a blast in Atlanta!  We are grateful for the cooler summer (compared ONLY to last summer) but shew is it HOT here in Atlanta!  And to think it’s not even half as humid as where I’m from!  Zow!  Anyway, the boys and I have been enjoying lots of pool time and playing around campus while Jason has been attending classes during the day.  We have also enjoyed visiting lots of different churches and exploring the city.  We even got to meet up with one of my very best friends (of 20 years, no less) Cascia and her sweet mom and family.  It has been such a blessing to pass the last full month of pregnancy in a new and fun place like Atlanta.  God is so good to our family, I prayed for months about this trip to Atlanta and have had nothing but peace and blessing since we arrived!  Thanks again to all of you for your sweet prayers, notes of encouragement, and love!  The boys and I will be traveling back this week for a doctor’s appointment and then the following week we will be coming home a day or two before Jason completes his classes and comes home for good.  We are so very grateful for this opportunity and cannot begin to tell you how excited we are that Baby Caroline will be here in just 5 weeks and 2 days!  Ok…onto the pictures…
This is Connor on 7/10, when we were home for a doctor’s appointment.

We headed home later that day and I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am for such great travelers – my boys are excellent in the car!  This is one of Cole’s favorite things to do in our temporary campus apartment.  He loves to look out his bedroom window and watch the buses and cars!

We found some friends, playing on campus, from a 4 year old preschool class. The boys really enjoyed playing in the field with the kids!

Later that day…back at the apartment…

Blog 5

All that playing wore the little guy OUT!  He took a nice long 3 hour nap and looked a little more than disoriented when he awoke!

Cole has decided that when I cook, this is “Cole’s spot…”

Blog 7

We went back out later, after daddy got home and we ate dinner, and played frisbee on the field outside of our apartment!

Blog 8

On 7/12 we headed to Target and got some balls of our own to play in the field with!

And Cole got some new shoes that he was MIGHTY proud of!

Playing around with picture programs!

On 7/13 I spotted Batman on campus on my evening stroll…

On July 14th we headed to Passion City Church in Atlanta.  It was my first experience at a mega church and it was CRAZY huge!  Louie Gigglio was the pastor and he was awesome – and worship was lead by Chris Tomlin.  A very cool experience!

Later that day, we hit the pool!

This was our morning project on 7/15…Connor was building a “convention”

Cole can even go in the baby pool without swimmies now!

On 7/18 we headed over to meet with my friend Cascia’s family in Chattanooga!  They live in Alabama and we decided a great meeting point would be the Tennessee Aquarium!  Umm…but I forgot about Atlanta traffic when I left the house at 8 to meet them at 10…

Blog 1

To our surprise we both arrived at the same time!  Here we are getting ready to go into the aquarium!

Blog 2

Cascia’s boys, Adam and Jack, with Connor, looking at the awesome penguins!

Blog 3

My cautious little Cole was NOT so sure about those “bishies”…

Blog 4

Penguins are so distracting!

Blog 5

We even tried out the shark cage!

Blog 6

Meanwhile, Jack and Adam and Connor decided this is the kind of scenery they’d like to have in their bedrooms!

Blog 7

Connor even got to touch a real live snake…since Daddy wasn’t with us Smile

Blog 8

Baby Caroline and Cole decided to ride most of the aquarium out in their chariots!

Blog 9

We packed a picnic lunch and got to eat, overlooking the river!

After the aquarium, the boys enjoyed playing in the water!

Caroline: “Cole, you KNOW boys have cooties!”

Blog 13

Back in Atlanta, we did some much-needed grocery shopping at our favorite store, Publix on 7/19!  The boys love driving this cart around!

Blog 1

And later that night we enjoyed some delicious chicken wings in celebration of Daddy’s completion of 2 of his 4 classes!  Just 2 weeks left and he will have 4 classes down!

Blog 2

Has there ever been a happier child than Cole?!  I don’t think I’ve met anyone happier to be alive than him!

Blog 3

This is how I found Connor, later that night…he must have been talking to Cole and fallen asleep…

Blog 4

On 7/20 we headed downtown to explore the city!

Blog 1

Centennial Olympic Park is AWESOME!

Blog 3

But exhausting, according to Cole!

Blog 4

We packed a picnic lunch and enjoyed it during a long rain shower!  The boys loved eating and dancing in the rain while waiting for it to end!

Blog 5

After the rain, we headed back over to the water and to our surprise there was a group of tourists who were fascinated by Cole.  We turned around and he was all smiles for their cameras.  It was bizarre!

Blog 6

They even asked if they could pose with the boys and literally like 15 people took pictures with them.  It was SO weird!

Blog 7

After that we headed to an ice cream parlor and enjoyed some delicious treats!

Blog 8

Atlanta ROCKS!

Cole and Lala on their way to the car to go to church this morning.  This morning we went to Buckhead Church downtown, which is Andy Stanley’s church.  Some of you might have heard of his dad, the Rev. Dr. Charles Stanley (who I am DYING to see next Sunday!)

And on the way home, Cole as “Datnan” (Batman)

Blog 2

Hope you’ve enjoyed.  We sure are blessed and can’t thank God enough for this month in Atlanta and all of your support.  The city is awesome and the churches are cool but there’s no place like home and there’s CERTAINLY no place like our home church and our church family – we miss you all so much!  Can’t wait to be back in just a little over 2 weeks!
